Greetings,

I just found this interesting board which deals also in Iraq railways.
I am a collector of the Iraq railway stamps from the 192oth and later and look for any information and material to the old railway system.

Have a look on my Iraq Railway stamps pages at http://fuchs-online.com/iraq

I had been in Iraq from 1984 – 1990 and once enjoyed a ride on a vintage train from Baghdad to Baquba. Should have somewhere some photographs of the train and will post them in case I find them an if there is some sort of interest in them.

Kind regards,
Rainer

Also, on the index page of my Iraq Railway stamps site I have added links to vintage Iraq railway maps.

One line of your Basra picture seems to be narrower than the other. The narrow gauge (probably Cape Gauge) was replaced by a standard gauge line to Baghdad. I wonder if the wider gauge is actually a crane track?

There was a link to Iran during the second world war. I suspect that too was Cape.
