I noticed these switchers sitting in the yard at the BL England power plant. I assume the power plant owns or leases them, and operates with its own crew to pull coal hoppers up to the unloader as needed. Apparently it's cheaper to do the yard switching in-house than contract with the railroad to use the road power from the Beesley's run to do it. Anyone know what these switchers are and how long they've been on the property there?

Also if you look closely, there is a spur leading inside the main building, with a covered hopper and a flat car on it. Not sure what the purpose is.

This is just a guess on my part, but based on those photo's they look like Emd sw series switchers. It appears to me they are either sw1500's, or sw1200's or maybe even sw900's? I do notice they appear to have 2 exhaust stacks. And... again just a guess... based on colors could they be ex-amtrak switchers?

They should be faded yellow and black, similar to W&W 1200 that was acquired out of the Atlantic Electric / Connectiv / etc etc plant at Deepwater.

One was an NW2. The other may be the NW2 that was at Deepwater or another unit entirely. I'm not sure.
