Hmmmm... can someone parse what this is likely to mean for the average Bear Mtn. railfan? More daylight action or less?

Thank!

Mike

there will be dead times during the middle of the day, same as when the the coal gets switched at tomkins cove. best times to see traffic at bear mtn tend to be from first light to noon.
this project seems to be tie renewal, not an addition of second track between those points, though the r.o.w. can fit that. an interesting operation if you can catch it, the caravan of machines w/ different functions.

As a railroad employee, I think the following should be known. I printed out a copy of this post, when "Wanderer" posted on a different thread/forum, and showed it to a few of my co workers. I was asked by my supervison as to the origins of the material. there are supervisors at CSX that are genuinely PO'd that this was made public. not so much the specifics of the "memo", as the fact that offical company business is being divulged, in direct violation of comany policies and operating rules. I personally had to face the music with my employer last year at this time regarding the posting of company affairs in public forums.
Disregarding the fact that a portion of the materials is not accurate in this case, I was contacted by my employer and questioned as to the origin of the posts. Apparently I didn't have to answer, as I was informed that the company I work for has people that monitor the internet(the source of my troubles from last year) and various sites, and that they intend to trace the origin of this post. My employer has taken a hard stance about company affairs being made public, especially verbatim, and they WILL track down those who see fit to divulge the affiars of the company.
I then asked for, and received a verbal(although a written one may be in the offing) clarification as to what is acceptable and what isn't. As an employee of a Class 1, we guided by (by my employer, at least) our Operating rule GR-12, which states in part: "without proper authorization, employees must not: 1) divulge the affairs of the company; 2) permit access to company records and materials....."
I may seem like i'm being a wet blanket but thats not the case. this post is taken, workd fro word from a company document, and the red flags were raised by my employer, as i was involved in an incident last year of a similar nature. The carrier made it clear to me that they ARE investigation the public postings of company documents, and they have EVERY intention of following the electornic trail wherever it leads. So please, in the case such as this, use discrection, as if this leads back to an active railroad employee, it may be THEIR career, THEIR paycheck, and THEIR family that suffers because they shared a company document and it went staright to the internet without the company's approval.

I shall now don my flame retardant suit, and will contact the poster via private email. Thank you.

sorry to hear that. the irony is that sometimes we get better information here than what they give us. but i agree, internal company documents or information that may give a competitive advantage should be kept under wraps. have a safe csx day...

You would think you were posting the Pentagon Papers.
All big companies think any thing they do or say is
very important. Likely because most are lawyers.

I doubt they realize it is the stockholders,
the owners, their bosses really, who pay for
some misguided control freak to hunt down
internet posters.

Pathetic.

I do, however, completely agree with the need
to NOT get somebody in hot water over stuff
like this.

Sadly, suits will be suits.

Anyone care to guess what the River Line action will be like tomorrow (Thurs) morning between Iona and Orangeburg? I promised I'd take my kids to see freight trains... checked things out a couple of days last week. Thursday at Orangeburg we had a real parade... five southbounds between 09.15 and 10.15... Friday same place same times we had... one hi-rail pickup truck! talk about hot and cold...

Maybe I should just take them to Edison or Bound Brook instead?

Thanks

Mike
