Have there ever been any models made? Anyone scratch-building work equipment?

I don't think there have been any commercially-produced models; the PATH system doesn't appear to be popular among modelers (even accounting for the fact that, in general, subway and subway-like systems don't seem too popular among modelers). The only place I've ever seen a part of the PATH system modelled is in photos of rr.net member M.R. Snell's layout (see this installment of the Along the Line column), but even there it isn't the focus of the layout or the operations.

If you were interested in scratchbuilding, there are some scans of diagrams of the PA-4 cars.

There are no commercially made PATH models available, and half of the system runs in an underground tunnel... unless you're going to model from PORTAL to Journal Square, Harrison, and Newark.

The PATH cars on Matt Snell's layouts are actually old Walthers Washington Metro subway cars- wrong length and wrong body style, but decent stand-ins.
