Believe Old Town will be next week as well. They had the class in Old Town today going over the blue 500 that was up there when I drove by.

Hearing now that WATCO has been training a crew for Old Town in the same class as the Rumford crews. So they may be taking over operations there sooner than the new year.

That roundhouse is an asbestos filled cave in waiting to happen.

But Nine Dragons put all the mill switching contracts out for bid across the US. Watco won the bids, they are also taking over switching operations at NDP's facility in Wisconsin with the newly established Wisconsin Rapids Railroad. They just received a former UP GP15 to switch that mill. Pan Am cou...

No idea but that Salmon Farm rendering is interesting to see railcars: https://bangordailynews.com/2019/05/21/news/hancock/bucksport-salmon-farm-developer-closes-deal-on-part-of-former-mill-site/ Coincidence? I believe thats actually an old areal photo or more likely google maps type render and the...

I believe Rumford has RU-1 and RU-2, plus an RU-R so two switch crews and a relief that covers weekends and what have you. Jay has RI-1, plus a couple of road crews. Road jobs are PORU-RUPO from Rigby (PO) to Rumford (RU) and vice versa. Operate 7 days/week. Morning departures railroad west (Compass...

Signals have been OOS for several years, since a car ran over the bungalow at the crossing. New signals supposedly coming when they do their next massive track project. All part of the plan to upgrade and interlock Leeds, add 2000' of siding at New Gloucester (a stupid place to put, they really shou...

5 days/week you have NMWA/WANM. The schedule is hit or miss, but odds are you will have something moving at least a couple days in any given week during daylight. There are some nice shots between Waterville and NMJ. Bog Rd in Hermon, The Rte.2 bridge in Carmel is nice, you can park in the public wo...

CM&Q handles any number of liquid bulk materials, I saw predominantly LP gas cars, with acid cars and an unknown chemical tank car or 3 in there. Irving's refinery in Saint John produces Propane and Butane among other products that may be shipped by rail. There is a CO2 gas distributor in Saint ...

Over the top, as arctic shipping routes open up. The market will exist for Chinese/South-East Asian made goods to land directly on the east coast, and not necessarily just domestic Canadian traffic, but also east coast US traffic. Is it ever going to be comparable to the BNSF transcon across the sou...

Watco just won the contract to switch the Rumford mill. The mill has been in operation for a long time, but was bought by Nine Dragons Paper about 2 years ago. They're dumping a lot of money into the mill, and have apparently decided a contract switch operator will better suit their needs. The other...

Is Bill Gingrich's comprehensive roster part of a book? If so, I will purchase it as it sounds like a great book. No its not in a book, Bill is, or was anyway, a member here. It was available on the now defunct Guilfordrailsightings yahoo group in .pfd form. I'm not sure if that group migrated to t...

It has been discussed in the "Up North Gawking" thread, but I don't believe the grant summary you linked to had been posted. Thanks for posting this!
