:-D Just for you Scotty- NS 5516 rolls down home rails in Sayre, PA. Date was Sept. 30, 2005.

And had I known- I might have gone all out on documenting it....

Running long hood forward in true NS fashion...

Well...to be truly technical it isn't...at least not at the time. It was on the H12 as it was running east to Mehoopany, and as such it was the tailend unit on the train running push-pull.

I didnt' see it on the return, but I'll guess it ran LHF then.

got a report on another forum:
One of the stored 38AC's is supposed to be rebuilt into a 56xx series GP38-2R by NS. Not sure of the number.
anyone hear anything more on this?
Is NS still rebuilding old GP38's?
thanks,
Scot

Thoroughbred is converting as many 38AC and then the DC 38's to 38-2 configuration with air conditioned cabs in most. Apparently the 82 First Uniion units they converted and leased back are being or have been returned. They have completed about 40 units and will continue this year.

Scot,

Any idea if the 3 ex-Reading GP40's are still in service for NS? I think the numbers were 3000-3002..

Thanks,
Steve
