So two trains, both eastbound I think, this week have been reported with a large number of locomotives. Where is this power heading? To NSBR temporarily to help out with the inability to move trains out of Saint John?

The CP power goes across now from 120 to NBSR, so with that they needed some units to cycle west on the morning 121/223. Just a small bump to get things going, for example two units off 120 this morning went out on 223 this afternoon whereas the remaining power kept going east.

That was 223 in the afternoon and 120 in the morning. EMR 120 fell down due to customs last night so the afternoon train, even though it was all intermodal, was 223 and got their paperwork as such.

From my amateur observers chair, I wondered from day 1 of this service why cp was not utilizing run through power to improve traffic flow and transit times to SJ given the time sensitive traffic involved

The morning train is 121. That is the crew call and assignment regardless of what traffic is on the train. EMR 121 got held again last night at the border so that’s why there is no intermodal.

I didn't get a direct answer on that elsewhere, thought the symbols were relative to the traffic itself.
