Rockland Branch Discussion

LTEX GP9u (ex-CP) currently on CSX today in Massachusetts. Headed to Maine. Could be for the Rockland Branch?
Unit off lease from the Delta Southern RR in Louisiana. It's ex-CP GP9 8618.

Caught this unit this afternoon passing through Durham, NH as it was heading toward Portland. Was this unit that might be for Rockland?

What, if any, is the latest news on Dragon's plans for shipping cement by rail out of Thomaston?

The Geeps are headed for Maine Switching Services, supposed to be 3 total.

The third unit - 1585 was into Selkirk this morning. Anyone know where the 1555 ended up?

Sounds like the shuttle is done, as of yesterday.

By the sounds the cement will now be hauled by rail to Millis, Mass where it will be transloaded.

I wonder what routing this will end up taking. All the way to Selkirk to come back to Framingham or is CSX going to set it out at Worcester?

They went all the way to Selkirk, back east to Worcester/Framingham yesterday. Expect them to go to Readville, then set off
the following day at Medfield Jct.

Too bad they can't set-off going south out of Framingham.

Can't get to Framingham from there unless they rebuild the interchange in Clinton. There is a short siding on the Agricultural Branch, and the ROW is still there, but no track and switches.

Grand Junction would seem to be a good option in this move.

For car movement yes, and CSX/Pan Am do have a valid interchange there. However CSX isn't operating east of Framingham at the moment.

I'm referring to the fact the cars have to go south from Framingham to Readville via the Framingham Secondary to Walpole, passing Medfield Jct due to the direction of the switch, then onto the Franklin Branch to Readville, then get back-hauled from Readville most of the way back to Framingham to make the set-off.

Maybe when the Pan Am sale is final whatever BO-1 looks like then it might be an option to move the train through Boston.
