How much extra rolling stock, or returns to service of old rolling stock, or other service improvements, could've been made for all the dollars wasted on these constand rebrandings and then returning to the old?

The cost of paint is really negligible, especially if it's on a new unit that will need to go to the paint shop regardless.

First ALC 42 has departed for the Northeast Corridor, there are a few youtube movies showing the ALC-42 being pulled by California Zephyr.

Does anyone know the schedule for 301 or where its heading in the Amtrak system. I saw that it left Florin this morning and didn't know where it was heading.

It's on 6 (17). It's scheduled to be put onto 30 (20) and arrive in WAS on the 21st.

First, the title should mention the ALC-42 units will be for powering the long distance trains. The fact that long distance is missing will confuse people right there.

Following Mr. Maine Central's immediate report, Business Insider has its reputation as clickbait.

From Wiki:
Business Insider publishes original reporting and aggregates material from other outlets. As of 2011, it maintained a liberal policy on the use of anonymous sources. It has also published native advertising and granted sponsors editorial control of its content. On a few occasions, Business Insider has published stories that were factually incorrect. It has been criticized for using clickbait to attract viewership.
This sounds like a "weblication" with which the participants of Mr. MEC's several Forums around here have familiarity - with all kinds of holes in its credibility.

Siemens plans to deliver 6 more ALC-42s by the end of the month. The last of these units being delivered is 309, which will be the first ALC-42 painted in Phase VII.

For Amtrak, 50 More Siemens ALC-42s

Amtrak has exercised an option with Siemens Mobility for an additional 50 ALC-42 (“Amtrak Long-Distance Charger, 4,200 HP”) diesel-electric locomotives, bringing the total contract value to $2 billion, including supplemental multiyear maintenance support. The amount also includes about $850 million in funding set aside when the initial order of 75 units was announced in 2018.

Virtual Railfan had captured 313 and 314 behind 301 and 309 on (I presume) the California Zephyr at Galesburg, IL. Are ACL-42s regularly on that route now?
