1053 is a lemon, so hopefully, that's true.

1053 is currently operating on the wash train on the north side.

Would it be operating the wash rain while listed as awaiting repairs?

If it just needed HEP repairs, then sure.

Well it’s getting sent one way or another whether they choose to send it after a rebuild returns or not. If it’s on the wash train, then it’s prob an head end power issue since the prime mover still works. To be honest, idk since I haven’t seen it in person for some time. I only know as much as it gets posted on netransit roster.

Which we all have access to.

Any reason why the rebuilds got slowed down in progress? Seems like 1035 was the last one to come before the big pause in between shipments of the units.

Covid.

The initial reason for the slowdown was the closure of the MK Boise Shops by WABTEC in favor of consolidating that work in Erie. So any units out west were shipped to Erie largely uncompleted. Then curiously, they subcontracted out carbody work to Curray Rail in Holidaysburg, Pa. That meant the shells got shipped on flatcars to Curry and back. No doubt
Covid-19 piled on too.

To recap:
1031 - Was the last unit to be completed at Boise.
1035 - Was the last to leave Boise on its own wheels, but not completed. Went direct to Erie. Back to Boston 2/7/20.
1051, 1064, 1066 were the first units to be shipped to Erie from Boston. Followed by the 1025, 1026 (2/08/20), 1058 (9/29/20) & 1069 (3/08/20).
1057, 1060,1064,1065 & 1074 plus one unknown unit were shipped on flatcars Boise to Erie.
1025,1026,1064,1066,1069 shells plus one unknown unit sent to Curry Rail for carbody work.

I’m hoping that a unit will come back soon, it’s been a while since the last one came as mentioned above.

Apparently 1053 went back into service up north. Not sure why it was listed as awaiting repairs and then did not get sent out. Anyways it’s understood because they are waiting for some rebuilds to come back into service before sending out more. I still find the F40’s cool no matter what type they are. Their legacy says it all.

About time something comes back from being rebuilt. Been far too long since the last one came back.

Should be in Selkirk by now off Q560.

Maybe come east overnight.

From what I saw on YouTube, 1074 sounds badass with the raised letter K5LA which is similar to 1063. I assume that most units are coming back with their original horns with the difference of being completely cleaned out. Correct me if I’m wrong. I wouldn’t be surprised if 1057 gets sent back home momentarily.
