So in my eyes the question remains ... When's the last time a passenger train operated on those rails in February? Seems like sometime before 1960????

Last runs of passenger trains 162-163 between Portland and St. Johnsbury was April 26,1958.

If you want to consider Office Car Specials as "passenger trains", there are two of note.
On November 1, 1981, MEC ran their OCS on the Mountain Division. It never made it to
St. Johnsbury, as it hit a washout in Miles Pond Vt and derailed. The two locomotives,
including the #573 were badly damaged. I cannot seem to find a text account of the
mishap, but click on this URL, scroll down to photos six through nine and enlarge.
Luckily the #573 was rebuilt and later purchased by the CSRX.

In 1983, I believe GRS used the OCS to deliver the 501 to North Conway. Perhaps
other posters can provide photo and text material URLs for this move.

Actually, they used one of the MEC’s chop nosed GP’s and some boxcars to deliver 501. I don’t have my book right now, so I can’t say what number.

Sorry miss read your question the first time.

It was 590, Eric.

Dick, the 258 involved in the Miles Pond derailment also still survives today, up in Ontario as RLHH 2081.It was last in the North Country as NHVT 3800.

No worries! ... So "yes" excluding the OCS in 1981 (which may not have even been in the winter ...) When is the last time a passenger train ran in February??

Mountain Division passenger service ended circa 1956(???) ...

So ... It appears that April 26, 1958 would have been the last day of passenger service on the Mountain Division. The spring timetable went into effect the next day on April 27, 1958. So the last time passenger trains ran in February through the Crawford Notch would have been 1958.

Absolutely unbelievable to see this happenning. Hope there's plenty of video.

I'd say so. I checked CSRX' website. They have no February trains scheduled. So where is the Steam Thru The Snow notice, please?
  by b&m 1566

The schedule is up on their website unless they took it down because it was up a few days ago when I looked. They are running two dinner trains to Bartlett on Valentines Day, then starting Saturday the 15th and going through MA and NH school vacation weeks till the 29th they are running shuttle trains to and from Attitash, not sure if Bear Peak is part of that I forgot to look, I don't believe so, since there's no loading platform, unless they just use the driveway entrance. Regular trains resume April 11th.

The main schedule link does seem to be down. Use this one for the snow trains: https://www.conwayscenic.com/valley-train-snow-train/

I would assume all-diesel power on these trains; there's no reason for them to work 7470 that hard. Especially if they plan on departing every 90 minutes out of N. Conway. Steam in the snow was last month....

According to the CSRX snow train link, RDC "Millie" will cover the February Attitash excursions. No diesels or steam on heavy trains!
