if CSX puts the B&A up for sale, would it make business sense for NS to dissolve their share in PAS and purchase the B&A?

If they also got enough west of Selkirk to get their intermodal trains to Selkirk, quite possibly. Whether CSX is going to be willing to sell enough of the Water Level Route to NS to allow that is a question that's up for everyone to judge for themselves.

For this to happen, CSX would be giving up on their portion of Conrail east of Cleveland, e.g. the Water Level Route, to also include the River Line and the B&A. NS would have to sell the eastern end of the Nickel Plate, the entire Southern Tier Line and the D&H in exchange for the Water Level Route. Under such a scenario, NS would become the dominant rail carrier in the Northeast that may have difficulty getting STB approval in the end. Would depend on how much NS is willing to spend to get almost essentially what they have now.

That's what I was thinking. Unless the entire Water Level Route is in play, NS bidding for the B&A is lighting money on fire.

CSX has specifically denied that the B&A is for sale. PAS/NS can stick to whatever plans they had for intermodal duopoly with/vs CSX.

I posted this link in the CSX forum, but this news of a CSX (and CP) running'
"apology tours" for the EEH moves, could indicate even more that the B&A
is not for sale. From morningatar.com.

16R has 3 MBTA coaches on the rear today. One flat, 388, and two bilevels, 710 & 715.
Had 4 NS GEs with #4033, an AC44C6M 4th out.
Got lucky & was able to follow it from N Adams to Deerfield.
I was aware of the rebuild program for the bilevels, but the flat was a surprise - at least to me anyway.

The flat - 388 - is coming back from Delaware Car in Wilmington, De. and not related to the K-Car Program. It was part of a
small group sent their for repairs and other issues. There is a K-Car (761) just released from there and a Rotems (1812 & 1819)

NECR Appeal to STB to re-consider terms of PAS' Conn River line trackage rights agreement that STB served in October 2017 has been denied!

Opening "Digest":
This decision denies the petition of New England Central Railroad, Inc. (NECR) to reconsider a Board decision served on October 31, 2017, which adopted modifications to a trackage rights order governing the operations of Pan Am Southern LLC over an NECR railroad line. This decision also denies as moot a motion to strike [filed by PAS].

Apparently PAS experienced a main line derailment "near Mechanicville" on Thursday 6/7/18 that impacted 22K/23K schedules by 24 hours or so, according to NS.

Whatever happened, the service disruption has cleared as of Friday 6/8/18.

Anyone know any details?

They could get trains around it on the 2 track but used it to rerail.

Word is amongst fans along D3 that the most recent visit by Norfolk Southern Geometry train this past week produced relatively little mayhem to PAS operating schedules. Anyone have any specifics?
