Gentlemen,
I was flying into Newark airport Saturday morning and I noticed that at what used to be Naparano's which now I believe is named Sims Metal Management Northeast Inc there was a large number of silver subway like cars. Does anyone know who's these are or from where. At first glace I though they might be PATH's old Silver cars. but they were too shinny to be their.
Any clues.
Thank you

I wondered whatever happened to Naporano. So there is still a rail scrap facility there?

They are former NYCTA R44 Subway Cars.

According to George Chaisson on SubChat, 276 R44s are being scrapped, except 63 Staten Island cars (402 was scrapped).
