Would New England Southern buy (lease) a mechanically fit GP38 or two if the the cost was not very high?

Why would you ask that question here instead of calling the company and asking them directly?

I see no need to bother them with a a question such as this.

Uh, I must be missing something. Maybe I should call New England Southern and ask THEM if YOU would be interested in buying my old car. Whether to buy or rent a locomotive is a business decision made by the people who run the railroad, not railfans on an internet forum. Who on these pages would have the KNOWLEDGE - not speculation - as to their needs. If you are not a pipe-dreamer, and DO have a unit they might want, it would not be a bother to them for you to call. But people who really DO make a business out of renting locomotives already know that. Hey, maybe you'll get lucky and they will reply, right here, and we can all watch the negotiations take place. Then when it's rented you can thumb your nose and say "I told you so!" Good luck!
