Pretty sure LMRR’s main existence was as a bridge route that connected with the Maine Central Mountain Division in St. J. When Guilford closed it, most of its traffic went out the window.

Even with Conway Scenic’s proposal for the Maine section, it would be a long shot for the Vermont section, and a practical impossibility for the Lamoille Valley. I’m not very pro rail-trail but it’s hard to see any other use.

Some day in the distant future transportation and population and energy pressures will force conversion of some rail-trails to either railroads or roads. Where autonomous vehicles will roam.

Not this trail, as it's heavily promoted and used as such. The "snow travelers" in particular enjoy it a lot.
