It's possible that Home Depot got some $$$ freight bills from their flatbed carrier, and the stores are complaining about late deliverys
would not be surprized if Lowe's follows suit in the future..

Home Depot uses JB Hunt as the national carrier to transport their goods. Same will apply at Brookhaven Rail Terminal, rigs are already there. They have begun to receive cars of bentonite clay also which was business on both the LIRR and NYAR in the past.

With JB Hunt(Dedicated ops) setting up shop in Brookhaven,a slim possibly of spine cars and their(JB's) 53 ft containers down the road
for inbound Dry Goods
There's talk of the HOS for Truck Drivers is be changed again,it's very easy to burn thru your 14 hour work day when stuck in traffic
on I-495(LIE)and burn thru the total hours on duty allowed(70 hours total on duty, could burn that in 5 days real quick)
By running out of Brookhaven, you are not fighting the traffic and bridge crossings in NYC and still have a chance to get back
to the yard legally.

Home Depot has increased rail unloading at BRT. They have begun to receive several boxcars of plywood with a new storage building and one car spot ramp. This past week Home Depot had 19 boxcars waiting to be unloaded. Impressive business on top of the flats they started to receive a couple of months ago. More rail freight coming onto the island!

These are via boxcars, rather than lumber flats? Sure like to see the photos!

that must explain the large number of railboxes sitting down there lately.

They have been receiving a lot of the higher TBOX/FBOX cars. There was almost 20 cars on site waiting to be unloaded again this weekend. Busy out there with the summer stone/ Home Depot/ flour transload. The bio-diesel costumer is quieter in the warmer months.
