You beat me to it. For those who don't have access to Snoozeday's website:

If the article is accurate, seems as though we'll see shipments by rail start as soon as this week, destined for the Brookhaven Rail Terminal. By June, a new track and a 200,000 foot warehouse will be completed, part of it enclosed while some will be outdoors. It just seems like it will by building materials at this point. But, if it works out, maybe they'll expand their shipments by rail to include the other items that Home Depot carries, including appliances. More good news for NYAR. Also sounds like good news for those who use the bridges, as it will reduce the number of long distance truck routes required for Home Depot's distribution to LI. We'll still probably see the same number of trucks on the LI roads, as the goods will still need to be distributed from Yaphank, instead of from the current warehouse in NJ.

What kind of corporate welfare did they wring out of New York State, Suffolk County, the Town of Brookhaven or the Feds for this ???? Something tells me there's more than just good business sense at work here....

I would imagine a few per day or every other day, assuming that the estimate Newsday reported holds up (those estimates always seem so hit or miss).

The Home Depot reload Newsday is referring to should be the SMS rail lines in Bridgeport, NJ. Cars should come from both NS and CSX to head out to BRT. NYAR always received healthy doses of flats from CSX, NS, and CP Rail during the building boom.

Definitely should be one of Long Islands biggest freight receivers covering the Brooklyn and Queens Home Depots also. Good to see a major company building a supply warehouse in the anti-business NYS climate.

It's possible that Home Depot got some $$$ freight bills from their flatbed carrier, and the stores are complaining about late deliverys
would not be surprized if Lowe's follows suit in the future.
