Control Car 1648 was wrecked in 1990 at Tower Road in Lincoln after
clipping a stalled lowboy trailer. Ever since, its been stored and
mostly forgotten.

Well sometime this month, it was put into Boston Engine Terminal
to be parted out and scrapped. The car is now down to basically its
frame with a wall or two of the vestibule ends still attached! The
roof and sides down to the bottom of the window band are gone.
Only the seat supports remaining standing on the floor.

Safe to assume the number boards are gone? Possibly to re-appear on E-Bay someday,LOL. :P

Finally being scrapped, eh? It's been so long since it's accident (ocurred same calendar year as the Amtrak/MBCR BBY accident), but this coach isn't being "creamated" till now.

Maybe it must have been used as an "organ donor" for parts.

Yes it's being an organ donor for parts... Look for 4 NJT cars coming to BET, they have been spotted in NJ with MBTX lettering. More parts :-)

Wow Mr. Arico! Some NJT cars as well for Organ parts? We sure could use some.

They were reported elsewhere by Pittsfield, Ma., so I guess they are in
Beacon Park and may be delivered Thursday.

Today crews at BET took the 1648 off its trucks. Coach body (or what's
left of it) is laying on the ground between the west end tracks leads and
the B&A eastbound! They used the big white Kershaw crane to do it.
Otherwise known as the Tonka Toy to some of us!
