Has anyone started out as a locomotive electrician apprentice? What can I expect in the first couple of months?

More than likely, especially since BNSF uses the folicle test for new hires. That way goes a lot further back than urine. :(

As apprentice expect to be doing lots of Traction motors and Generator brushes
If Conductors are in charge, why are they promoted to be Engineer???

As well as blowing out a lot of main and auxiliary generators plus dynamic brake grids. Have your ear plugs, dust mask and safety goggles at the ready.
