This is one of six 80' long motorcars built by St Louis Car Company in 1939 for the Southern Railway. They were powered by 5 cylinder Fairbanks-Morse engines rated at 750HP. Each car contained a standard RPO behind the engine/radiator compartment and a 38'11" long baggage compartment at the rear of the car. This is an early photo showing the original two axle front truck.
Each car had a trailer coach painted to match.
