UP 3012 rescuing Amtrak lol. You can barely even hear the new upgraded H-engine:

I caught it both ways at Salem as well, and it is very quiet, especially at idle. My theory is that the particulate filter acts as a muffler.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since it's a four-stroke design, but it sure sounds to me like a GE dressed in EMD clothing.
