Is there any reason why CP is rerouting their Montreal to Bensenville trains through Buffalo and routing via CSX? Is this related to insufficient clearances through the Detroit Tunnel or restrictions to the number of trains the NS is allowing via Elkhart, Indiana?

A Trainorders thread re: the re-routing of a pair of Toronto-Chicago intermodal trains says that as CP is limited to 8 daily train slots over NS between Detroit and Chicago via Butler, IN and as CP wants to increase the # of ethanol/crude oil trains via this route, it negotiated with CSX to run Q165/166 Chicago-Toronto train pair between Buffalo and Chicago using CP locomotives. I have seen Youtube videos showing stacked domestic EMP containers on Q166, a capability the Detroit River tunnel precluded.
