#4 could also stand in for GTW services from Chicago to Toronto. CN F's replaced the GTW GP's for international runs. Most cars repainted into the New Image gray /black scheme.

Once CN became a private corporation, it would have immediately moved to end all passenger services, so it's good that VIA came along when it did.

VIA was actually created by CN in 1976 as their passenger marketing department and originally known as "VIA CN" It would be a couple of years later before VIA Rail Canada was formed as a separate Crown Corporation.

CN was not privatized until 1995
