Another Transcon Question

Post by 130MM » Sun Oct 07, 2018 4:41 pm

Another question about the Transcon: near Malvern, KS the two tracks spread apart so that they are about a half mile or so apart before coming back together. Does anybody know the reason?

No doubt the north track is the original line -- westward climb is 0.6% on the north track and 0.4% on the south.
