You should note that for much of the 20th century the Swiss were afraid - or thought it unwise - of becoming dependent on energy sources they would need to import. They didn't want to need to import oil and coal. Instead they had plenty of water power. Hence they have an almost totally electric transport system of trams and trains.

As a result they don't add vast quantities of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere - unlike others who should know better.
