Scot,

A nice shiney repainted WNYP# 421 has left Lakeville and headed to the WNYP yesterday with "the traveler" railcar. This will allow the LAL to get #424 back from the WNYP where it has been working for the past several months.

On the NYLE, I am told that the C425's are lettered..DL. You know what that means....

Update for 2008!

http://gold.mylargescale.com/Scottychaos/NY-Alcos/

And here is a summary of 2007,
from: http://gold.mylargescale.com/Scottychao ... ments.html

End of year summary for 2007

Wow, 2007 was a busy year in NY Alco land! :)
lots of changes, and most for the better!

The big news was that all eight of the "Cartier engines" transferred from the Susquehanna to the Livonia, Avon & Lakeville.
All 8 moved from Binghamton to Cohocton during the year. at the end of the year, only one was in service (WNYP 636 in Olean),
the other seven remain in Cohocton undergoing work for an eventual return to service.
(it is still unknown if all 8 will return to service..the two C636's are particularly doubtful.
3662 is the only one of the 7 that never actually operated with NYSW)

NYSW becomes Alco-free during 2007, for the second, and probably last time.
No more Susquehanna Alcos in Utica, Syracuse or Binghamton.

A total of 13 new units join the LAL/WNYP during 2007!
including the 8 Cartier units. most are destined for the new Olean operation.

the M420TR finally shows some activity, as it is moved to Utica to begin some repairs so that it can go to work on the Adirondack Scenic.
(by the end of the year it had not yet returned to service.)

Much activity finally began on the "Colonie Alcos" during 2007.
The Alco FA looks like it will finally be moved and saved, the fate of the other engines is still unclear..the word "scrapping" still hangs in the air.

New York State loses three "Alco locations" on the map during 2007.
First, Victor, NY, when the ONCT is sold to the FGLK by the LAL. the one Alco in Victor, LAL RS36 418, moves from Victor to Lakeville.

Second, Binghamton, NY..
long the "Alco mecca" of the North East, with D&H alcos running into the 1980's, and Susquehanna alcos running up until 2007, Binghamton ends the year 100% alco-free.
very sad.

Third, Jamesville, NY, which only contained the M420TR, which has now moved to Utica.

But NY state gains a new "Alco Location" on the map during 2007!
Olean, NY, which becomes a new LAL/WNYP base of operations.

Six Alcos entered NY state from outside:
Seminole Gulf #550, M&E units #4264, 4223, & 4228. (for the LAL/WNYP)
and GVT 1044 and 2035, for the DLWR and Falls Road.
No Alcos left the state or were scrapped during 2007!
so the Alco population for the state increased by six units.

thanks,
Scot

I tried googling the loco..nothing comes up!
the reporting marks JCNX appear nowhere on the internet, except in that photo!
anyone know anything about this nice looking switcher?

Found a little bit of info:
JCNX = DIAMOND CROSSING ENTERPRISES, LLC

Diamond Crossing Enterprises, Llc Diamond Crossing Enterprises, Llc is a private company categorized under Business Services (Unclassified) and located in Langhorne, PA. Current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of $110,000 and employs a staff of approximately 2.
hmmm..not too helpful..
we dont know if the unit is headed to Langhorne, PA, or if they are the company leasing it out to someone else..

JNCX 27 is former Pioneer Valley 106 , nee Frankfurt & Cinncinati 106, nee C&O(?)). Came from the Claremont Concord who bought it from the PVRR. It was operable but needed alot of work so the CCRR bought the former GMRC 305 which was in much better shape.

Some points to consider:
1) This repowering means that the unit is no longer a "pure" ALCO. I would not even include it on any "ALCO"list.
2) This locomotive will have a much shorter life span than the two S-6 units that were used by Tri-gen. One S-6 was recently overhauled by Finger Lakes and I must assume it is in operating condition.
3) If this zombie replaces the S-6's, what will happen to the ALCO's?

Unit #1 is dead maybe a parts unit to keep #2 going? #2 makes its trip back and forth on FGLK for work its still in use and works in tandum on and off with an SW8? or SW9? thats also on the property that they also use. I first saw the SW unit 4 years ago and saw it being used as recentley as April 2010 Its a lease unit painted Red, Silver, and Black. Its also the last time I had traveled to Solvay area.

Changes for last year, 2012:

New York State lost three Alcos in 2012. One left the state (Adirondack C424 4243 to the DL in Scranton, PA)
And two were scrapped (Alco S2 NYLE 62, and Alco C425 NYLE 5067.)

WNYP and B&H.

One "Alco location" was removed from the map..Owego no longer has any Alcos.

No new Alcos arrived..The Alco total drops from 130 to 127 units in 2012
from:
http://1stclass.mylargescale.com/scotty ... ments.html

I know the two Trigen/Suez Alco S6's have been sold and will be moving out of Syracuse..
I haven't updated that info yet, but will soon..
