What's the longest NYA train you've seen or were a crewmember on since the NYA's takeover of freight service on Long Island?

The heaviest train I ran on the NYA (although not the longest) was 40 loaded TLTX cars for Prima, 15 loads for Arriva concrete and one lonely reefer car in the middle for Mid-Island produce. 56 car train, not the longest, but definitely up there in weight. Power was 3 38's and 1 MP15ac.
The longest train I was conductor on was around 63 cars earlier this year. Power was 3 "overheated" 38's. A crap load of paperwork to fill out on a train that size

The RBB&B circus train was the longest train handled by NYA.

A move of empty gondolas was made down the Bay Ridge Branch this summer, which was around 80 cars.

I once ran a train back from Prima (40 cars) and added 20 more at Pineaire heading back to Fresh Pond.

I recall the GP-10 with I think an SW-1200 on the bushwick I think about 77 cars? I could be wrong.

Are you on CRACK??? 77cars on the Bushwick????
Heck we'd plug half the crossings. I've had wheels with 86 car totals on them but that usually is a four trip night.

Bushwick usually maxes out at about 40... WESTBOUND....mostly empties for WMX. Eastbound mid 20's to mid 30's and that is provided you swipe just about every piece of running power in the yard.

77 Cars!!!! Thats a great one....

I believe I still hold the (NYA) record for the longest WB train down the Bushwick @ 51 cars and 2 MP15's. Mr. Knife let me know if that record has yet been broken, as I have not ran a train on the Bushwick in about 3 years!!
My longest train comming up the hill is 36 WMX loads with 261/271/106. I was past Featherstone while the rear was crossing Metro still, according to the spotter I had in positon

I think the longest train was indeed on non-joint use(no weed involved) territory. The train went down to 65 St. with a bunch of empty gons and WMX cars and I guess some NYCH interchange. I had a train of 57 cars this year which actually parted in Mineola. Remember when that happens the hogger is supposed to carry back the knuckle. Luckily it was just the hoses! Bring it on! :-)

Was that 57-car train an E/B or a W/B run? What power did it rate?

Good to read your post Scrap! How you feeling? Hope you're on your feet (foot!?) real soon; take care. P.S. We move a lot of crap on the 301! Do we count?

On NYA, my records were, 63 on the main, 67 on the Bay Ridge.

So what do you think Tom, had an SD26 in the lead last week, yum yum yum. :)

Hey phantom, and all my cronies @ NYA. Im feeling as good as I can possibly be with this (minor foot readjustment  ) Will be back within a reasonable time as things are going rather well. We will re-unite at WD's soon. Well I think over 100 cars a day does count, however your engineer needs to go to my school of engineering to actually move it LOL. BTW keep them 40 boys really busy, Im sure "Fester Clause" will appreciate it!!

Now is the time where Knife needs to post yet another funny image to that hilarious title.

Hey Tom sorry to hear about your foot. Do you attribute it to the "nut behind the throttle." Do you need money fast? Call the team of Squeaky and Sparky! I hired on with a guy with a broken foot! :-)
