nick11a and myself sat at Rutherord Station for a good solid 4 hours and watched the rush hour.

Had a chat with some little kids about trains (who also happened to be part of the sullivan bloodline), where they went, favorite engines, favorite stations, etc...

Got some heat from some drunk guy who was mad because he got in one of my shots, but that didnt stop me. A great day for railfanning for the two of us indeed. I took pictures on both a film and digital, so I'll gett he digital ones up when i find some time, and hopefully nick throws up some photos too..

The best part about Rutherford during the rush is that by the time one train is already passed the station, you see then next one in the meadows miles away and by the time that one gets to you, the other is already showing its lights. The best is when a bergen and pascack train race across the meadows to Pascack Junction.

Anyway, a great day for railfanning. Chatted with a engineer for a few minutes, and got some great B&W shots for my photo class at school. When I process them and print them i'll submit, because nothing is better than old CNJ geeps in B&W...

There are two great restaurants within a half mile of the station, if that whets your whistle. Used to be a good fast fish place in a building adjacent to the outbund platform called the Erie Clam House.

Park & Orchard is a good place with an incredible wine list. Volnays and first cru Bordeaux for $50-$75. Very good Burgundy wines from $40. Maybe three blocks from the station.

Sonoma Grill is on the corner of NJ 17 and Hackensack Ave. Very good food, well priced wines. Nice place. Continental Arena nights are good because th eplace empties out at 730 and you have it all to yourself.

Haha. Yeah, had a good time today. Funny how you had me- an O'Sullivan, Sullivan1985- a Sullivan and the kids and their mom just turned out to be Sullivans too. That was pretty darn funny (and creepy.)
I guess it was meant to be. All of us terrorizing Rutherford by being very obvious in photographing trains (had to love you tripod Mike- LOL). Didn't get hassled by any cops though which was kind of surprising. Just the crazy drunk guy who threatened to take away or cameras and smash them up or something. Couldn't really hear though cause of the CNJ Geep that was 20 feet away.

Anyway, a most fullfilling day. Thanks again Sullivan.

You were there too? Wow. According to my time dated photographs, at 6:26, myself and Sullivan were on the extended westbound platform photographing 4194 with a 4 cour MN Comet V set passing through on the eastbound track (but the train itself was a westbound one.) It would have been great if you came along! Sorry we missed you or you missed us.

It's a small world after all...

Yup, sure did. And Sullivan will probably have his photos on his site pretty soon. I still have to transfer mine yet and do all of the editing stuff.

My father has 8mm film reals of the Erie Clam House and all of downtown Rutherford from years ago sitting in my basement. Hes even got a U-Boat chugging its merry way through the station at full speed.

Nick as for that drunk guy, I'm so glad that the huge monsterous beasr was ideling there. He was getting on my nerves...

Damn, raynov, angry i missed you, would have been the most fourm people i met in one spot in one day...

As for my photos which i blatently took right out in the open with my huge tripod and obvious film equiptment (i would rather been seen and open then hidden and concealed), I'll have them posted soon. Nick will have more shots though because most of my stuff was shot on 35mm film, but i also had my digital with me, which happenes to be the same exact camera as nick, the FujiFilm FinePix S7000...

My photos from today at Rutherford... Many of the pictures i took are on Kodak TX400 Profeessional B&W film and I have to wait till i get into the darkroom at school to process it. Hopefully soon I'll get a nice slide scanner to so i can ge them online.

Anyway, these are my digital shots:

Nick, do you have space online to host your images from. You took a lot more digital shot than i did...

All together, a very awesome day. The Bergen County rush hour parade of trains was accompanied by beautiful weather, and nobody gave me too much of a hassel, just like the old days. I hope more days like this are to come, because today was great!

Rutherford was always one of my favorite spots. We used to climb on the w/b signal bridge for Rutherford Jct. and shoot the w/b rush. Not on top, mind you, just up on the abutments about five feet up. You got a nice view of downtown NYC in the background. Mainly the Towers.

Yeah, I've got some space to host them for a while. I got some stuff to do though so I'll do that tonight.

And yes, the guy was annoying.

I'll second that motion. Excellent food and good service. Me and my family usually go there for birthdays and special occasions.

Wow, this place looks really familiar..lol

looks like your getting the hang of the S7000...

^Yeah, getting the hang of it. Learn new stuff about it each day. It also takes some nice videos too.

And on a quick side note, I took a look at your panoramic shots you mentioned to me yesterday. They're really neat especially the Rutherford station one.
