Useful tip: if you want to see 13T in the afternoon, the train usually pulls out of Gang Mills between 3 PM and 4 PM.

Prepare for unit oil trains to traverse the Southern Tier Line to Binghamton. NS grabbed the contract to handle Bakken to the new Delta airline refinery outside Philadelphia. When it starts? Soon.

Will this new operation be the same as the W8T(?) train that ran on the Tier last summer or will this be a separate operation?

K4,

I believe this was CP who got the contract for the new refinery transload in Philadelphia. The rail transload is supposed to open anytime by the beginning of Summer this year. The plan is to run the traffic via Buffalo/Binghamton/Harrisburg and Philadelphia just like the CP 614/615's for Westville, NJ were running last year. From what I have been told, this could end up being pretty high volume traffic by the time things are fully up and running.

There is even "RUMORS" just RUMORS at this point (take it with a grain of salt), that CP is working closely with NS at negotiating CP trackage rights back on the Southern Tier to handle the Oil Trains for Philadelphia among others with CP crews. This could get very interesting in the long run. CP is back at it again South of Binghamton dropping new rail, marking ties for replacement, continuing bridge work and making plots for stone drops and surfacing to prepare for the expected traffic increases!

But we shall see. Either way the Southern Tier is likely going to see an increase in volumes from the Oil traffic moving East!

What was the Harrisburg - Philadelphia routing? Via Reading (ex Reading RR) or down the Susquehanna River and up the NEC (ex PRR)? JS

HO-6 mark time and operating days change on the Corning Secondary air beginning Monday. The new mark time is 5p (1700) M-F. Please make a note of it.

Noticed over on the New Jersey forum that CP got the contract to deliver 50K bbls of Bakken oil daily to the Albany transload facility for barging to a refinery in NJ. Does anyone know if this traffic will come down the Tier and up the D&H to Albany?

Why would they transload to barge or ship for NJ that train could take load to NJ in few hours? it's like putting container on train in syracuse and send to Rochester to unload the container off train for local delivery

Negative. Those trains should take the northern route. They already route cars that way for the Albany facility.
