At least Woodbury was gone before the job was gone. Les Woodbury was known for his booming and monotone voice as a dispatcher. An interesting individual. I recall many years ago a CONRAIL signal maintainer who referred to Woodbury as "The Emperor of The Boston Line", in partial reference ...

When I saw the no parking signs in the picture along the tracks and not next to the road I thought cars were crossing over the tracks and parking along the dirt road running parallel to the right of way.

LA-4 just crossed over the track repair area with the T track crew still there. PAR leasor 3001 and 3 loads backed through the repair area and continued to connect to the load that was left there last Fri. The engine then swapped ends and started the journey to Peabody where 4 empties are waiting t...

Was dropped off at Littleton this morning, and they were digging up all the new concrete in front of the new station. A backhoe was loading a dump truck with the waste. Someone measure something incorrectly? For the past week or so, they had been cleaning up the new platform area of construction eq...

Has anyone seen any return to the track work we saw last year starting in District 1? We sould be seeing material and equipment being put into place by now.If not, I would think that would be a bad sign.

I don't know how old the images on Google maps and Bing maps are but there is a siding at Marlboro Junction (approximate address 56 Brigham St.) that shows several tank cars,a couple gondolas and a single boxcar.

Was there ever a connection between PC/CR and B&M in Clinton? If you look at Bing maps it shows this as an existing track in the SE corner even though it just the roadbed and the track is gone. When looking at this location on Bing Maps in "Birds Eye View" you can actually see the CSX...

Rt. 9 was gated many years ago, along with the crossing gate shack that used to be there, and the switch tower. I recall while living in Framingham back in the 1980's, the gates were removed due to complaints about the gates malfunctioning, and traffic concerns. Last time any "real" track...

Gotta wonder if NS will continue to allow the "run-thru" of their power on these trains if Pan Am doesn't upgrade their tracks somewhat? Charlie Every railroad has derailments... When they derail on the UP at 60 mph the mess is a little bit bigger than a few coal hoppers off the iron... I...

They have been running track cars ahead of oil jobs or about one a day up the line scouting for broken rails. The problem is, a hi-rail truck doesn't have the weight to detect a soft spot... Same problem they had on the Andro Bridge I can imagine it has been hard this year and in any winter with a ...
