Great pics havent been to the area in 20 years. Prob a lot of houses now. Last train was in 1974. STB forced line to be abandoned due to deteriorated track and bridge condition. I believe the track was in place until early 1980s.

Was looking at historic areials and just wanted to know what happened to all the massive rail yards that were around the union station area. Looks like they were there until the late 80s. I was reading that in the late 1970s there were still around 100 trains/day on HSC. Why has the # dropped to half that today? Did CR and NS reroute the traffic elsewhere?

I can't believe the train shed is still standing.

Also who made the track signs with the train names on them? Are they original or did some volunteer group do it?

Too bad commuter train service is not profitable, all it does is suck money.

They tore it down in 1995. Why? Why not store engines in it like the LV did up to the end.

Done the LV-LA trip on I-15 a few times and it sux. I-15 is 2 lanes past Barstow slow as hell too many cars crazy aggressive drivers. 5-6 hrs of torture. Approx 200,000 people per weekend make the drive and a ton more during conventions. Anyone who leaves LA on a friday afternoon must be insane. See...

On the 26th it was one train after another passing Beth Steel in both directions. Too bad the Reading is gone.

Ive been staying near Union Station in Bethlehem since Dec 24. From Dec 24 7am - Dec 25 11:30pm only ONE train has passed. How can that be? Did NS take off for Xmas?

Does any rail interest still exist for the ex-RDG thru Bethlehem (now the greenway)? Like does septa have the right to rebuild the tracks? Reason I ask is because around the row new buildings have been built around it and they have walkways and upper floors that go high up over the row, but nothing ...

I did a few years ago. Keep in mind this branch was abandoned circa 1968. There was nothing left except you could make out where the row was because it was all flat. Not a tie, spike, plate, etc.

What's the history on the abandoned line that starts at the Kingston, NJ (ex-Erie) NJT station and goes south to Harrison, NJ? Looks like it was 2 tracks. Part of it still goes thru the paved pax platform at Kingston Sta.

You are correct, the siding is covered in gravel stone and has a bunch of trailers parked ontop of it. Also it's actually a DOUBLE siding. There are 2 sets of tracks along the warehouse.
