Does anyone know the car capacity of the Massena, NY yard....as built, and /or, as of now?
Also, at the Massena yard, what is the signal one sees next to the South Main Street crossing - on the "station side"?
I've never seen it display anything but "red". Thanks in advance.

Leo, Good question on the runaround. Certainly no more "flying switches" in this day and age! Even if they were simply picking up cars (no deliveries) they would still have to get them onto the other end of the locomotive. After the derailment a few years back between Park Street and Buck ...

Yep, modern economic practices (railroading and non-railroading). It is amazing how certain operating practices

Yes, I saw one almost like that a number of years ago in Canton, in the dead of winter...very cold. Seven crossings in the Village of Canton (the line cuts through the entire village...all curves, too). A northbound with 4 units (all old U-boats) and 119 cars, loses one unit as it crossed the East M...
