Good news! I have a meeting with SEPTA on Monday to discuss Shawmont Station's history and architectural attributes. They want to start restoring it. They have already cleaned up the grounds and cleared away much of the brush as well as the towpath behind it. Keep your fingers crossed and thank you ...

I drove through Bridgeport PA and the newly paved section of Rt. 23 that crossed the CV Branch no longer has tracks; therefore, that last remaining section from RDG's Main Line in Bridgeport to Henderson is no longer.

The only thing new is that the nearby old pumphouse buildings have been torn down. The old towpath behind the station has been cleared with a road barrier in place. Things have been "hush hush" in regards to the station building. To think that the current tenant is the only one who has mad...

The latest section of the bike trail on the Schuylkill Branch goes from Cynwyd, past Barmouth and then onto the old 1/2 mile siding that went to where Belmont Avenue and Rock Hill Road meet in Lower Merion. It is called the Cynwyd Heritage Trail. The stretch on the Pennsy from the Concrete S bridge ...

Hello, Glen Willow was about 100 feet North of the current Ivy Ridge stop and included an icehouse. It was mostly a freight station/whistle stop which ended in the 1930's. The Glen Willow yard is still accessible, fairly empty, paved over with sidings removed. Between 1835 and 1870, during P,G &...

The RDC took a sharp turn out of the Terminal, went down hill and under Broad St. at about 5 mph. The train rocked back and forth a lot before going into t...

My Dad worked in the Planning Dept. for the Reading Co. and there were some joint negotiations for the B&O to run out of Philadelphia's Reading Terminal via the City Branch to Washington, since that stretch of the line was built for high speed. As ridership was dwindling in the late 50's, The Re...
