The Beverly is a fine set up. It is run by timetable and direction yes and I think the only location in the country where flagging is required. I know this is an old thread, but DMU to millenium? Really? All of you that say this line is a joke go out and get a schedule and see how many trains traver...

When you hit the shut down button a few things happen. The prime mover shuts off and lights com one saying Low oil pressure, low water etc etc as that is what has happened. The sensors show this because thats really what happened. Alarm bells ring until you turn it to isolate. Do it every night with...

Did anyone here get the memo that PTC wont be implemented by 2015? Congress granted an extension. We do not run over 79 on any Metra line. Only one with cab signals are the Rock, and they dont stop you from blowing a signal or crashing. MP36 units here are JUNK. I can see the ground when walking thr...

If you ride your bike down to 63rd in Englewood its been nice knowing you...Not to be mean or blunt but you would be a screwed pooch. On the SWS we blow by there and its not a fun or pretty location. Try to see it from the train is the best advice.Anywhere on the Beverly is fine as well, its just ge...

Otto its a big mix on the Electric right now. Over on the BI sub we can have either all old cars or all new. Sometimes its a mix. The old highliners on the Rock start at 55th and go up to 47th street.Cant move them anymore as the batteries are all dead. Shop forces have sealed them off as well.

I have volunteered at a few. Currently at one in Illinois and I am having a ball. Its my railroading for fun time. I work for a commuter agency and its work, this volunteer time is for my love of history.

I left the CN/j when the contract was about to start.Sorry but it does not eliminate labor relations, as you have to have spread time and a few other rules to deal with. Its the dumbest damn thing in my opinion. BTW I made the same at BNSF as some of these CN guys are and didnt work half as much.But...

In Tinely Park on St Patricks day weekend, they have a parade that runs across our line.We have our police force and the local PD out there to help with the crowds. We get a " Make noise for the parade and be mindful of the crossing at oak park avenue" messages. But seeings we are stopping...

State of Illinois requires a crossing not to be blocked more than 10 minutes. If you are switching or moving however the time does not start until you are stopped. That being said, over on the old EJ&E you can not block a crossing more than 10 minutes from the time the gates go down to the time ...

In Illinois they run a loco on the rear as a way to help a move. Daily the Q556 and Q 557 run with a unit on the rear. Not being used as power until it does its flip to come back.
