Re Valley RxR north of East Haddam. There is a NIMBY/Rails to trails effort going on within Haddam with comments/editorials in the monthly Haddam newsletter. They are pushing this because of how the State of CT bought the line. All I will say is that those affluent NIMBYs along the Valley ROW better...
The color may be the same, but the backround is different ... it changes every year.
That train contains passengers ... I thought NY&Atl couldn't touch a train with people on it ?
While I too doubt that rail freight will return to Brooklyn, beyond where NY-NJ float is ... I did enjoy skimming thru the BEDT site. Any costruction in Brooklyn would have to wait for double stack access accross the Hudson ... and ... that anint happening :-( And maybe this year I go for a ride wit...
For those interested, there is a related post about Midstate's Hartford operation on the "New England Railfan" forum here.
With 89, 90 & 475 available to pull trains what will 31 aka 0-6-0 be used for ... freight jobs of a few cars ? There is a recent freight job on YouTube with, I believe 90 doing the work. About 1/2 dozen cars & #12 in the back. I loved the run bys with that team of horses & the old car :-...

The 0-6-0 would that be #31 or #73 ?
Is it theirs or a customer ?
Hacks 52 or 62 ... I thought NY & Atl only had 62 & 65, with 65 not suitable for any kind of use ? Therefore it's 62 ?
Tom Prendergast said that issue of budget & schedule are eluding us.
On a $10B project ... heads should roll !
Strasburg ... this reply is tacked onto a very old thread, but I couldn't find any other discussion about this "Tourist line". First, was there the Sunday after Thanksgiving with four grandchildern. We had a very nice time behind 2-8-0 #90. Also did the "diner" near the Caboose M...
Leaving the Middletown yard and going NW the line crossed Route 3 between the towns of Cromwell & Westfield. On Route 3 the road rose to cross the tracks & the line continued on a built up ROW thru a masht area. Beyond that has become a box store shopping area which has distroyed all traces ...
All, I found the comments, particularly the history very interesting & thank you for sharing them. 1. South of Middletown: In the 60s I used to here & see NH freight going up & down the Valley with a car or two at that time. 2. Portland: (also see "Providence & Worcester" s...
