Was this perhaps weather-related? Most likely, for for several reasons: 1- Slogging through several inches of snow is not exactly safe for crews when when making up trains or drilling remote customers. (Woodhaven) 2- NS, CSX, NJT were all having trouble that day with frozen switches on their lines ...

Looking for Pennsy steam in New Jersey on youtube and discovered this old film, lots of NY&LB, South Amboy steam action. Quality is not that good but lots of great action on the shore line. Have yet to locate any movies of Pennsy steam on the Freehold branch, anyone know of any out there on the...

BigDell,

I see the CR on the Souther Secondary thread, I'm trying to go through the 365 pages, but for this question I thought it'd just be easier to ask here... Thanks!
For more info on what runs out of Browns Yard search the threads on the Raritan River RR and the Freehold Secondary.

Big Dell said:Junction Once on the NJCL are they going up north to Oak Island? They run east from Browns Yard to South Amboy and onto the Coast Line west(south) to Red Bank onto the Southern Division which currently ends just below Cross St., Lakewood. The rails are pretty much intact all the way to...

Another alternative is if the particular consist has some empty gondolas going to Brick Recycling. Get in and get low out of the sight line.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Lakehurst. It was the engine terminal and shops for the Raritan & Delaware Bay RR, later the New Jersey Southern RR and CNJ used until about 1920. It included about 14 storage spurs, engine shop, car shops, roundhouse (8 stalls), coal, water and sanding facili...

Holly, You are correct that the train goes back up to South Amboy and then down the North Jersey Coast Line to Red Bank to the Southern Secondary. The majority of the freight is lumber for Woodhaven in Lakewood, with occasional stone products in boxcars for Extech near Farmingdale. Also may see empt...

Does anyone know if they have looked into LNG by railcar? Probably cost prohibitive due to delivery costs, but might be cheaper than oil.
