Re: Stupid idea at trenton?

But what of added tracks and a new platform? If the platform was put off on the far eastbound side, you could make it as wide as you want, but if you put it in between the low and the 2 others, it'd have to be like 9 feet plus rubbing boards. I think 9 feet is plenty of room, i mean look at some of ...

Is it not the city's responsibility for treating the roads? I cannot see how a properly operating gate and properly operating LRV can result in NJT being liable...... i'm all for justice, but NJT is the wrong party to go after in this case, i think.

That is pretty neat about the cooling tunnels. I knew about the excavation shaft at exchange place from a documentary i saw years ago about the sandhogs. I can't even imagine how useful and free-flowing a 4 track system would be... Would make north river tunnel outage a lot less painful, that's for ...

There were plans to build to communipaw and add tunnels and track connections between communipaw and hudson terminal. That plan was abandoned before it ever got started. I'm not aware of any plan to tunnel from the Central RR under the river . There were provisions at Grove St. for a diverging rout...

Based on my limited understanding ... I really cannot believe that I read a two paragraph post saying "i don't know." I actually read it twice to be sure. No wonder you have nearly 4600 posts. If that's the post you're going to make, don't post at all. I was attempting to sound humble, i ...

Clearly they need to get some more engineers and stop putting all the pressure on a thin list of overworked people.

I am also wondering how many tracks the potential span would bear. However, the article mentions that the design work is done. Does anyone know what was designed in terms of number of tracks? I have no idea why Clift would take the view, effectively, that Portal is the enemy of Gateway. If he is ta...

My heart goes out to the crews and families & friends of the deceased. There is never any reason for these things to happen, and of course the train crew bears the most of the emotional toll. Hard for me to not get angry at people who don't respect the tracks enough to stay clear in these situat...

Ok, but what about adding capacity including storage capacity at trenton via additional tracks where they actually had them before & one new platform?

Those other issues can be addressed in their own thread.

And to address the idea of through commuter service a la PRR, it's not really an amtrak issue, but a union issue, and a FRA issue. Who is qualified on the route? Which agency has their people on the train? How would a contract for such a service look? Would it cause new problems to implement transit...

Morris does not seem that busy, even during peak hours, which is the main area of issue for trains to pass through & get to a platform from PA to NJ... Having seen the use of trenton skyrocket from 2001 to present, i was just thinking that it has become a major station along the NEC, and that mo...

4906 seems to get around. I've seen it on a few bay head trains, double headed with a PL on a RVL train at newark, and lashed to a 46 at Hudson assigned as protect numerous times. Have also seen it through newark broad street a bunch. The few times i've seen it at hoboken it was assigned to PVL or P...

Between 35 and 37 you had a lot of changes in that area. Penn station newark was opened, manhattan transfer closed, PRR trains still ran to exchange place, but under wire instead of 100% steam. The 3rd rail was taken out between Hudson and Portal as well i believe. Pretty interesting stuff.
