Thanks Gregory.
Of interest is that the slug appears to be on Flexicoil trucks. Most SW-9s didn't come with these like SW-1500s did. In searching around the Internet, the slug originally had AAR-B trucks. Looks like KLW swapped them from another unit?

Is Posillico expanding again? The building along the sidings was taken down. I would say "yes". Posillico knocked down the warehouse building, dug out the ground and is installing some new equipment north of their spur in Farmingdale. Not sure what they are doing yet. Passed by the site o...

Took a later train into the city today due to the rain and was rewarded. NB CSX freight apparently stopped over the LIRR main. COFC with green trash containers and as my train neared Woodside caught the head-end. Two CSX engines, first unit looked like a SD40-2 and possibly the second. Around 7:10 A...

When the double track was installed near Farmingdale, the double ended siding east of Route 110 (New Highway Area) had the western turnout removed. NYA freights heading east now have to back in to serve Coastal Distribution (C&D) and Posillico Materials (Aggregates). Are there plans to restore t...

Matt: From my train this morning, Wantagh Station still has a divider at the middle of the platform. The western end is nearing completion. The canopy lights were on this morning but it is not open yet. Red running boards were on the platform waiting to be installed at the platform edge. It doesn't ...

They put these platforms up quickly but they look like they are temporary. Why didn’t they just continue the platform in concrete? I think it would have taken a lot longer to pour concrete for four platform extensions. The work was completed in less than two months and the crews did professional wo...

Both platform extensions at Kew Gardens look completed as well as WB at Forest Hills. Work is continuing for the EB platform. Planks are into the earth and the framework is done. Metal channel studs for flooring are in place awaiting the boards for the platform. Railings are in. Not sure when the cr...

Two weeks later and Kew Gardens' platform extensions are almost done. Hard to get pictures from a moving train so sorry no photos. Both EB and WB platforms are almost done. They did just use pipe scaffolding and boards to make the extensions. WB platform is missing stairs/railing to close the end. E...

Passed by New Highway in Farmingdale on Sunday morning about 10:30 AM. A lot of activity at the crossing. LIRR M of W and other vehicles parked all over. LIRR 163 with about ten ballast hoppers and another MP15AC on the end was just east of the crossing on the new main with the concrete ties. To the...

Construction work for extending the platforms at Kew Gardens has started. At the westbound side (Penn Sta. bound), the ground has been leveled north of the existing 4-car platform. Ballast has been spread and tamped and two wide planks have been set in. The planks appear to be at least 12" wide...

What is train #2714 like? This is the 5:09 PM from Penn Station to Montauk on Friday nights only (usually just to Speonk). I am in Penn Station around 5:00 PM making my way home and see a rush of passengers with suitcases for this train at well. This train also stops at Jamaica where I've seen more ...

On the subject of timetables, I was walking through the main gate area at Penn the other day, and noticed the timetable racks for LIRR weren't there (around the columns near the 7 Ave IRT entrance). Are they gone from Penn or located somewhere else. I noticed they were missing in the Central Corrid...
