From my Babylon Branch train yesterday evening and this morning, spotted 7425-7426 at the West side of the Hillside Complex. I think they were on track 6. 7425 caught my eye with the open front door and damage. Have they been evaluated already as to the damage?

Have the derailed cars been moved away? I have not seen any news report stating that.
Also, I imagine there will have to be some track repair. Anyone have updates?

Rockguy: I am all for a good design. Anyone here think they can design a better siding for us? Would like to get maybe 20 cars at a time (The more at once the better for pricing im told). The grade on the river side is better for a pit for unloading. Just past the road crossing in our yard the grade...

Rockguy: Appears you want to start your own quarry. However, have you considered Rawson Materials in Northeast CT? http://www.rawsonmaterials.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; They ship aggregate and concrete sand via the P&W to NYC. Would probably be an interchange f...

Work started on track 18 in Penn Station as scheduled on 1-7-19. What I find interesting is that Amtrak has not erected any fencing or barriers as before on the platforms. On the evening of 1-8-19, I had an extra few minutes before my LIRR train. I walked down to track 18, to find workers on the tra...

@talltim: The truck in question has to be 125-ton. Look at the other pictures for P&LE 42268. The Load limit (LD LMT) 238,500 lbs and Light weight (LT WT) 76,500 lbs add up to 315,000 lbs. This is the limit on 125-ton trucks. Buckeye trucks tended to be 6-axles. Perhaps this is a 125-ton Barber ...

Spotted freight cars above the LIRR main this morning at 7:00 AM. Hard to tell if they were moving as there was barely enough sunlight. Good news is that the days are getting longer. Couldn't quite tell but appeared that the freight was on the new second track in this area. The cars seemed further a...

Passed by Coastal on Saturday afternoon. The yard is now four tracks wide. Originally, it was two tracks, then Coastal added a third in 2014 and now the fourth. The new track is on the west side of the yard. This area had been where Coastal used to park its tractor trailers along the fence along New...

Yesterday at about 1:20 PM, as my EB train sped under the line, I spotted two MofW trucks on the tracks. Appeared to be doing routine maintenance as Backshophoss said.

Came home yesterday after 1/2 day and caught a glimpse of the M-9s on the main line. As my train headed east to Woodside at 1:15 PM, a 4-car set of M-9s was on Track 1 apparently stopped. Only caught 1 number 9005. As we continued to Forest Hills (1:20 PM), a 2-car set of M-9s was heading west towar...

I'll second the thanks to Dogbert for his updates! Finally, I have something for this thread as well. West bound CSX freight to Oak Point crossing over the LIRR main this morning at 7:00 AM. Didn't see the head end power. Large cut of about 20-25 loaded CDEX cars trailing green containers of waste o...

Southern Container was bought by WestRock. However, they are still in Deer Park at the old Southern Container plant. I would think that they still receive railcars of paper for corrugated boxes but not have been out that way recently. Plus their unloading dock is inside the building making it hard t...

Nice photo Gregory. Those are two-axle Flexicoil trucks. Correction from my post above that most SW units were delivered with AAR -A trucks. -B were on road units. If I remember correctly, Flexicoils were supposed to track around curves better and could be geared for mainline service ~60 mph. Most S...
