Thanks for all of your replies. I probably took this train about half a dozen times a year when I could'nt get a ride. I dont ever remember riding on the metroliners I'm sure they were extra fare. Those jersey arrows or pioneer cars are more like it. I would sometimes take the trailways bus to phill...

Hello to all, Not being a railfan at the time I used to frequently take the train from Suburban Station in Philly to Harrisburg. I was travelling back and forth to college from 1977 to 1981. I never paid much attention at the time but at a recent visit to the Museum at Strasburg I noticed Two stainl...

The booth in the pictures no longer exists, and it is very close to union avenue. The booth (still there) or what remains of it is directly under the signal bridge which can be seen in these photos right past the highway bridge. Tis is a smaller booth with no windows and a six sided roof.

There exists one of these concrete phone booths in Lakehurst. Unfortunately it is in poor shape and is also missing the vent.
There is also a 3 track signal bridge if your interested. These relics are just under the Route 70 overpass, off Railroad ave.

The New Dredge is now there at the woodmansie pit. I havent seen it yet but I am told its about twice the size of the old one.
I hope this means more sand for sand trains.

Most of the sand pits in this area have a great supply of good quality sand. This sand can end up anywhere once it leaves south jersey. Just some of the uses are glass making, paint additives, water and sewer filtering and frac sand for oil and natural gas drilling. There are plenty of uses but this...

Maybe a dumb question from a newbee but, Why are the signals all dark even when trains pass, and what are they using some kind of GPS based cab signals?
