The Maine DOT butchering the design of something to the point which it is impractical. Glad to see nothing has changed in the past 20 years...
Just like every trackwork project east of Waterville they have done in the past 10+ years, wait around all summer and start working the first week in October.
If that’s the case, I guess we will probably see the wreck train up here again.
Per a post in another thread, MEC 333 was pulled out of the shop. I went to the original Facebook post and from what was mentioned in the comments, the car has been sold along with the 332 and the Guilford stainless car outback of Waterville.
Recently a photo of PAR 007 at Waterville after it ended up in the turntable pit was posted online. I have no idea if it is recent or not. I don't know who originally took the photo as it was posted by a satirical railroad news site.
It sounds like at least 5 have been fully chopped up. I believe 19 have been sold to LTE. It would be nice to see the 332 and one of the high hoods make it out, but the scrap crews are making good time on the remaining units.
UMaine was researching how to make this type of biofuel a few years ago, and was exploring the use of it as a replacement for aviation fuel. I know someone mentioned Cate St. Capital's failed torrified wood venture, which was nothing more than a plan on the drawing board. I am not sure how far this ...
B&M 4266 as well as the bus at the yard in N.Co were tagged in the past few days. The boxcar at the Bartlett Roundhouse was also tagged.
Last I heard they were tied down at Leeds after they experienced engine issues.
Those in Saint John will feel "shut out", as their access to the USA will remain at the mercy of some "rinky dink short line" whose owners have it simply to move timber @ 25mph to their mills located there. As others have pointed out, Irving isn't even close to being a "rin...
For those who haven't heard, the NW5 was recently moved to Palmer and is being serviced so it can be returned to operation. The high nose geep they own was also moved to a siding for temporary storage.
https://railsandports.com/2020/10/par-sale-halfway-there/ If this proves true, it's a nice piece of sleuthing. I know several people on that train, and they have no f-ing clue who any of the executives were other than those from Pan Am and no one talked around strangers about the sale. Just remembe...
I think these are the same ones which have been there since the 90's. There was something like 300 of those there at one time. I can't remember if I saw them going through Caribou or Limestone right after the base closed in the 90's (memory is fuzzy after almost 30 years) and if so, they might have ...
NBSR was contracted to just to the trackwork at Enfield by Pan Am. They are NOT going to be servicing the customer, Pleasant River Lumber. In fact, Pleasant River is a direct competitor of Irving Forest Products. Did you not see Pan Am has been awarded $17 million in grant money to repair the track...
I must wonder, being the consignee, to what extent Irving was "on tap" for damages arising from Megantic. Lest we note, their pockets were "a mite bit deeper" than were Eddie Burkhardt's. Irving had to pay something like $10 Million as part of the Lac-Megantic disaster. Although...
