Re: The Guilford Wreck Train... Photos & Questions

While I was in the Rumford area, I stopped by the siding at Dixfield after receiving a tip from a friend about the Waterville wreck set. By the looks it has been there since the derailment at the start of December, and it didn't have a locomotive, so I am wondering if it had a mechanical failure.

Figure on CSX along with NS on PAS doing a bunch of wholesale scrapping of the 2nd and 3rd hand loco fleet, with the Ex-CSX GE's shipped back to Wabtec Erie. I assume that CSX will offer them on the surplus site before they torch anything. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 500's, and remaining 600'...

Northeast Agricultural in Detroit takes loads of feed and fertilizer if I'm not mistaken. Also PS would count as a fairly major customer. Northeast Ag takes fertilizer, and Feed Commodities (located on the same spur) receives feed. Pan Am also services a few warehouses (Galt Block received cars as ...

They are going to start running to keag again by the start of next month. The herzog train I think is working over the winter, but NBM has moved the tie gang to Oakfield for the winter.

From comments on Facebook, the cars are loaded with product from somewhere down south, and are being sent to the cutting shed for final milling. Here is a video of the operation from a few days ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGKxe6h ... NellsStuff

Steam in the snow, per the MBRRE website has been cancelled due to travel restrictions to NH.

Does anybody know if the Augusta IT is still in use? I drove by last week, and it looked like the rails were pretty rusty, and the flangeways didn't look like anything had passed in a while. Personally, I don't think I have seen photos of a move since sometime in 2018. It also appears a customer is ...

If Irving had any intention to sell, they would have done it already. With potentially a second Class 1 trying to pull stacks out of St John, it will just play into Irvings hand. If anything I suspect you will see Irving keeping the rail system they have established. The only way I could see them ex...

I guess I should have waited a few minutes before posting that, because a friend of mine sent me a message almost immediately after regarding the unit. I guess the D&H 5019 that was on the Adirondack branch for years was also moved with it. Although it is unconfirmed, I have heard that it is des...

It came off the SNC (VTR sent a GP40 up few weeks back to move the last SNC equipment out for the temporary operator). The loco is from what I can find, owned by Hal Raven of Raven Rail LLC.

I know Thortin Construction in Prospect has a pit next to the CP (exCMQ Searsport sub). I know Pan Am was charging a good chunk of change to interchange cars, but with CP ending NMJ haulage, Pan Am (and whatever railroad operates it after the sale) might be willing to place nice.

PAR is sending a ballast train to Mattawamkeag tomorrow. Given the amount of track in need of ballast, and about 17 cars of ballast being dropped it will be a surface layer, if that. Does anyone know when lumber cars will start to move out of Enfield? I know that they dont have a functional kiln dri...

With the oncoming sale of Pan Am, is there any plan for Downeast or the state to purchase the remaining Pan Am owned portions of the branch?

Interestingly enough, they installed defect detectors on the Millinocket Sub.
