OK, maybe you are looking for more sightings and I don't have that, but I do have conversation - here are some questions from a frequent reader who is also local so he can follow the twists and turns of the GG. One abbreviation I always wondered about is the "DCS". I kind of know this must...

Jaymac, where is the usual FI-1 parking spot? 25 years ago when I worked in the area it was on the west side adjacent to the (then) MBTA parking spots.

In the area a few later. At 0705 3 engines from EDPO dropped their train on the 2 by LaChance and headed east light past the west switch (didn't stick around to see if they doubled back on 1 - maybe to get another half of their train up the hill?). Then at 0750 noticed POED (2 engines) waiting at 33...

Work Train - Clinton Tues Sept 29 around 5:30pm.
Northbound passing Bolton rd grade crossing.
Engine was a large CSX truck (3 rear axles) on steel-wheels pulling 7 open gondola cars with a John Deere backhoe perched on the last one. Truck had a horn as loud as an loco.

Train with engine 5948 followed by 2 FRA inspection cars east thru Clinton early this afternoon. A west bound freight was sitting on the Clinton siding - was told that it was crew-less at the moment. Then saw track work going on just west of Gates Rd in Sterling - maybe fixing a recently found major...

Business seems to be booming for the new construction debris customer in Leominster. Just before 5pm today caught their trackmobile pulling a loaded car up the steep grade of their siding with assist from a large fork lift in back. This car was then placed on one of the outgoing tracks, which were f...

Crossing noise was for a westbound freight that I saw passing the WB DPW garage a few earlier.

There is a brand new two volume book published this year called "Iron Roads of the Monadnock Region" that gives extensive coverage to the Manchester and Keene Railroad (among others). And yes, much of this amazing route is hike-able/bike-able. Sadly all that remains of the massive trestles...

OK -I found some proof of where the engine house and turntable were located. Based on 3 photo's I found of the turntable and related tracks, I looked at an older (1943) topo map of Clinton where I could see that the main yard shown (where Hannaford supermarket is now) does not have the correct "...

Slightly off topic, but according to the excellent new book, "Iron Roads of the Monadnock Region", the original route of the first railroad in the region, the Vermont and Massachusetts", completed track westward from Fitchburg thru Millers Falls and up to Brattleboro in 1848, 2 years ...

In reference to the Gardner yard being empty lately, a southbound P&W train with 63 auto-racks (no other freight) passed Barbers in Worcester this evening at 1820.

No milepost there. I would guess that is about mile 8.4.

Very long westbound freight with 4 CSX engines parked at the West Boylston cemetery this morning. Cars go all the way back to Oakdale opposite the rail trail, which looks to be about 1-3/4 miles per Google maps. Some BNSF grain cars in there as well as open gondolas with refuse/dirt.
