Re: SEPTA to possibly rename as SEPTA Metro

I will still call it the P&W or R100!!!! I too refer to it as the P&W because it has far more history than SEPTA's attempts to operate the line like a railbus. That said I strenuously avoid the "R100" moniker because I saw too many times when both riders and the media confused it ...

No refunds too. NYCT allows tokens to be redeemed at cash value by appointment or mail and TTC still will accept them, good until used. Why should we be surprised? SEPTA's infamous for its GELD (Get Every Last Dime) policies. No transfers unless you have a Key card, the infernal RRD on-board surcha...

Bell Tolls for Tokens

SEPTA has announced that beginning January 1, 2024, legacy tokens will no longer be accepted for transit-fare payment. The announcement isn't completely clear, but it sounds as if redemption towards Key card balances, etc. is also being discontinued. https://www5.septa.org/bulletins/effective-jan-1-...

Everyone: Philadelphia Chapter NRHS latest “Cinders” October 2023 issue has mention about the CRRC multilevels in Frank Tatnall’s “Philadelphia Express” (Page 4-left) See www.philadelphianrhs.org to read the October 2023 issue of “Cinders” - MT - I think there’s an error in that link. Re: SEPTA NPT card will be "SEPTA Key"?

Now that SEPTA has some new higher-ups maybe we can hope for a fresh approach. I've taken encouragement from their moves to increase the number of free tranfers, at least for card-holders. SEPTA's transit routes often don't lend themselves to single-ride trips (a necessary evil for practicalily, IM...

That's just the problem. The present fare scheme is a crazy-quilt inherited from predecessor companies which competed with each other, as others have pointed out. What's needed is a zero-based, integrated fare structure designed from the ground up, but apparently nobody wants to put their toe in th...

Being "Of a Certain Age" sometimes has its benefits...MACTRAXX :-) :-) :-) :-) That "said", I'm frustrated by how SEPTA has cut back options for getting the card. I had to wait a couple of weeks to get mine in the 🐌-mail which doesn't help if you're a visitor and/or want to trav...

Re: If septa does make a return to diesel service, what are they using???

If septa did go back and do diesel service what would they use. they only have 2 HEP diesels, 60/61. So what else would they use? they'd probably go for old geeps i'd imagine. I doubt they'd use existing equipment except maybe on a trial basis. Newer dual-power units would be more flexible. But tha...

Trolley tries to extend Route 101 on its own

I’ve always found it a bit strange that the rails just stop in the middle of State Street. Does anyone know whether a similar, uh, “line extension” has happened in the past?

More from the Inky: apparently the car's air compressor was being repaired, leaving it without brakes.

I could recall when Center City Zone stations were a separate fare. In the 1995-2003 tariff a local Center City fare was $3.50, sold as round trip only. The MFL subway was $1.60 then (tokens $1.15 in multiples of 2, 5 or 10). That framework (of course with varying prices) was in effect for many dec...

As I previously mentioned in this topic creating CITY ZONE ONE and eliminating the Transpass in favor of Zone 1 covering all services makes this change easy instead of having two separate passes sold that until this past month were close in price to begin with...MACTRAXX This is a welcome step, alb...

Hmmm - the article's map shows the 13 and 102 potentially being extended to meet at the Darby TC. Reportedly the city cars will be double-ended to avoid the need for loops or wyes at termini. I wonder if this could open the possibility of through-running, assuming signals and other infrastructure ch...
