Just got back from Andover Twsp today with some good news. Andover Twsp Recreation Committee in conjunction with the Andvoer Twsp DPW have cleared the heavily overgrown R.O.W from Mulford Road to Lake Iliff Road. All pre-existing structures have been preserved except for the railroad ties which were...

I've always liked this forum since I joined 5 years ago. I've learned a lot about railroads, spoken with some great railfans, and have met so many great people due to the forum. I've gotten a pretty good education about the L&HR. I certainly liked it more when each railroad had its own thread, p...

I did attend. I was very impressed, had never seen any of the photos before in my 6 years of research . Rich was very well versed in the history of the LHR. He included the whole line from Phillipsburg SEP Bridge to Maybrook, as well as engine shots from Allentown , Fremansburg etc. Mainly diesel sh...

Tim, are the grade works and abutments you mention part of the abandoned Pochuck line or are they from the proposed connection to the LHR? Would love to see/hike them if you have ay landmarks I'd be able to follow.
Thanks!
Paul

oops, I was looking at the wrong siding at the top of this thread. The LNE did service the mines up in the Pochuck Mountains near the NJ/NY border. The spurs I beleive were called the "Pochuck Branch" or "Pochuck RR"

Dan, I think I was assuming that they raised the bridge on your property, not the Greenwich Street Bridge because I thought that it didn't exist in 1926 and was actually constructed for the first time in 1928. I figured the Greeenwich Street Bridge was gonna replace the old Spring Street covered bri...

So what I found out was this.....there were 2 overhead bridges near Belvidere...1 at Foul Rift, 1 at Roxburg (PRR) dating back to mid 1920's and earlier. There were many problems with these 2 bridges in that they had less overhead clearance than all of the other bridges on the LHR. This prevented ce...

that should help with my search tomorrow, though i doubt I'll find any pics. Dan, there should be a local paper from Belvidere on microfilm at Warren Library? this date should narrow all our searches. Good find Marty!!!

Definitely an excellent picture Ray! That would be a westbound passing the MOW building at Davis Road, Franklin. The MOW building was formerly the Tranqulitiy Freight House.

Marty! Glad to hear from you again. Referring to the 2004 thread and questions about what souvenirs where issued. Was there also a train whistle? Some of the pictures we've come across from that day show what appears to be a train shaped whistle being held by the kids.

Another fact I never came across, thanks L&HR C&S. When did Giamalvo first start operations there? I have evidence of the creamery being there back to at least 1910.
