I'm assuming there's probably two people in the cab keeping an eye out on both sides. But yeah, does seem weird to have both engines facing the same way. Especially for such a long distance trip. There's old engines are cool to look at but they seem very impractical when it comes to actually operati...

Does anyone know where I can find pictures of Union Station in Seattle before the rails were torn up? I still find it hard to imagine there being a train station there but I can't seem to find many pictures at all.

How old are most of the coaches VIA run? I take the train from Seattle to Vancouver pretty frequently and it seems like the coaches have some age to them. It's almost like something you'd find at a heritage railroad.

Columbia River Gorge

Quick question,

I know that UP owns the tracks south of the Columbia River in Oregon while BNSF owns the tracks north of the river in Washington. Where do the UP trains generally go to from Portland? Where do the intermodels end up? Crew change points, etc...

Waterbury is a sad, poor, dilapidated wasteland. But if you're into abandoned railroads, the old yards are definitely something to see and checkout.

i'm honestly surprised MN still runs to Waterbury.

Up until about 10-ish years ago (the last time i was there, they could still be there now I'm just not sure) in the parking lot where the present day Spring Street Cafe is, there used to be old rails from where trollys turned around.

Are you referring to the area right behind Shaws/Star Market? Or on the old bridge abutment off of Centre St? I'm a little confused because the area where it branched off is currently a grocery store parking lot.
