It's one of many pieces of equipment that have left the property in the month since CP took over. They are cleaning out Derby so they can vacate and stop paying rent on that property. All the leaser power that has been stored there by CIT and LTE is also being given the boot.

2005 hasn't run since 2014. It never received CM&Q reporting marks and never turned a wheel for them.

The Maine radio channels did not change, they are just connected to the Soo Line dispatch center in Minnesota. I don't know about the Canadian side, but I think I remember reading some of the Canadian side was swapped over to existing CP channels where there was overlapping service? Maybe only on th...

A lot of trust in the "World's Greatest Railfan" regarding this transition and information... there are hints of truth to what he shares but reality is much different. For someone with all the connections he sure seems to be misinformed. Maybe he gets the information but gets distracted b...

9020 is the Brownville switcher this week. No doubt they are headed for the scrapper sooner than later, but I believe the only 3 down for the count currently are the 3 at Farnham.

Thats a lot of questions that no one here has answers to... About the only question you're going to get an answer to is Any sign of materials or track equipment as of yet? As of yesterday 5/30, a LORAM rail grinder was on the siding in Jackman. Otherwise, CP hasn't been allowed to do anything legall...

From what I've heard, they may have added new cars, but the train itself is a little rough right now. Issues with electrical/generators on the cars themselves, and look at how long it took them to paint the sleeper. The dome still has it's fluted steel. They also picked up the FP9's shortly after NS...

I've heard rumors this may be the last summer for the FP's. Both need some pretty hefty work, aside from PTC installation. Electrical issues abound, never-minding the numerous mechanical issues. How much money do they really want to dump into 2 units that see a few thousand miles a year?

Also, neither the Buck or the Madison are technically abandoned. They are storing cars all the way down the Buck, still serving the old Holtra-Chem site in Orrington, and the line is serviceable, if unserved, from the north gate of the old mill to Calais Junction. They also still use, on occasion as...

Water weighs out before it cubes out. Why pay for a big box that you cant fill if there is a convenient supply of boxes you can borrow that you can actually fill.

The line is essentially a branchline and has been for a long time. The long term viability of the line is dependent on the STB ruling on the request for trackage rights. If ST is awarded rights to Brownville I'd expect 'Keag to MP 44ish to be abandoned in short order. If not the line will likely lan...

The mill site in Lincoln is at MP13.62. Keag is MP0.39. So, basically 13 miles. Much of the rail east of Old Town is indeed old and light. 85# rail with stamp dates from then end of WWI are common. Crossings rebuilt by DoT have either 100# or 112-115# with considerably newer milling dates. Tie wise,...

It turned out to be another example of a... wait for it... bait-and-switch scheme that went nowhere. Every once in a while I see something on here that makes me wish the forums, like Facebook, had a "like" button. There's no real response to this, but it certainly is worth a little thumbs...

Not really sure how you'd even begin to associate those 2 events. It's just been long overdue. I know there were spots on the branch where crewmen would literally get hit in the face with branches if they opened the windows. Not from sticking their head out, thats just opening the windows and lettin...

Pan Am brush cut a good chunk of the line today. The brush cutter was working west from MPR 5 around 13:45 this afternoon.
