Is anything being done or constructed on this line? Yes? There's literally a link to a blog a few posts above yours that shows pictures of active construction in December. No updates on said blog, but it's also worth noting that bat hibernation season can continue through April. If hibernating bats...

Yeah, 100 degree weather is totally comfortable. The canopy is not solid. It is literally pillars with gaps between them. You know what else provides airflow? An open space, which is what this is. What's the point of this comment? The platforms are going to be outside, that's how it works unless we...

Together with some of the worst AQI in the country. If it's so great, why not move there? The real estate market is pretty cheap in that area.

Night owl fares are still in effect.

Cheapest fares for commute time trains between Trenton and NYP are not available even 2 months out. August has availability for some, but not all, trains.

My SO switched to taking NJT from Amtrak because they were tired of SRO Keystones.

Amtrak's annoucement of increased NEC service has this tidbit in it: Momentum has already begun with FY23 4th Quarter NEC ridership achieving 8% above pre-pandemic levels and Northeast Regional ridership having nearly 9.2 million customers in all of FY23 – growing more than 29% compared to FY22. The...

lol if only things were that simple.

I'm also going to go out on a limb here and say that most people probably don't care or even notice.

I'm curious to know if both ACS-64s are providing traction power for the train, or if the leading loco is the only one providing traction and the trailing loco is providing HEP or is "idle". Two ACS-64s is 17,200 hp, which seems like hilarious overkill for Keystone trains and slightly exc...

Wow, I didn't realize one could fill 5 pages and counting dissecting the pros and cons of which way seats face on a train.

Wait until you find out that even some planes have seats facing backwards! The blasphemy!

The original cavern station that was part of ARC was in a way a second layer of tracks as it was designed to be below Penn.

Can’t imagine which services going through Penn would benefit dropping it as a stop. Literally the highest number of boardings on the entire corridor.

What are you talking about? The canopy is completely open air. The platform is not enclosed. There is no shade. The average high in Merced from June through September is above 100 degrees.

Why are these so gargantuan? What is the purpose of 80 foot canopies? It'd be one thing if they actually provided some kind of cover from the elements (I guess the designers have no idea how hot it gets in the central valley in the summer), but as it stands, it literally looks like an architect atte...

Bombardier's design for NJT requires 3 cars, which is probably why it's included in this proposal.

Parsons parsons. How I wish we didn't have 3-4 global companies controlling every single infrastructure project.

Parsons/Tutor Perini, AECOM/Skanska, who else is left?

The Downeaster has been that way pretty much as long as I've known it. Half the seats in each coach face forward; the other half face backward. Only in the business class section of the cafe car have I ever seen seats be turned. That's how seats are on regionals and Keystones as well. So I'm not su...
