Two turntables?????
There was a Bernie Ente trip down to Bay Ridge in 2000 that I was on with E-10s 101 & 105 for power, the coach and one or two hacks. He was a true gentleman, and he and his photography is missed.
Now only Kleet Lumber and the team tracks at Huntington and Greenlawn are left.
Is that switch in Setauket still intact, should a local business or a municipality, such as the Towns of Smithtown or Brookhaven, request rail freight service, as in years past?
Remember seeing at Hicksville Yard back in the mid '80s: Chessie C&O and B&O 50' boxcars with a wheel to open/close the single 10' door, as well as CN, CP Rail, D&H, GT, UP, SP, BN, N&W, NLG, NOPB, Amador Central, ADN and FEC boxcars, and many other roads. AMADOR CENTRAL !!!!! I saw ...
Never knew about this wreck until this post. Any casualties? How long was the 250 out of service after this, and the coaches? Is there still a siding at Amagansett, and is hand-thrown or controlled elsewhere? Thanks.
Awesome picture!!!!
Love pictures like that !!!!!! Hope to see more.
Good stuff. Definitely a worthwhile watch.
Any construction of a new passenger station in Vero Beach to serve Indian River County being considered by Brightline? I'd love to fly into Orlando or West Palm and then take the train to Vero and then rent a car to get to the Disney Vero Beach Resort which we go to.
I guess the two south-side tracks don't get much, if any use??? And isn't there a wye and a lumber yard that was once served by the LIRR and then the NYA there, too???
Great stuff, as always.
Can anyone shed light on the selection of the E-10s, E-15s and E-20s for the NYA from the LIRR's fleet prior to the start of operations in 1997? Any criteria, or was it simply at random? Have wondered how the choices were made. Thanks.
Did the V&M have any rolling stock of it's own, such as boxcars, like so many other shortlines did from the mid-70s on???
