Everyone: I will again salute Conrail on its 48th Birthday (April 1, 1976)... 23 years as a Class One Railroad and today as CRSA are the ongoing CR legacy... Another prime reason that I am making this post is that Railroad.Net will reach 1,500,000 posts TODAY!!! This should be noted only three weeks...

BSB, EC90 and Everyone: This chronicle of visiting every SEPTA Regional Rail station is interesting... CE: Good remembrance of NYC Tug #24...After watching the "Funny Girl" clip posted by BR&P there is no doubt about the jade green color scheme and the 1960s era cigar band logo on the smokestack... Since you have the DVD you can stop and view scenes pertinent to your Grandfather operati...

The Main Line east of KO still stick rail, or CWR installed a long time ago? It is CWR all the way to Greenport. I do believe some of it may have been former stick rail as it dates back to the Forties through Yaphank. I dont know much about KO to Yaphank, but east of Yaphank, it is still stick rail...

JS-Good advance notice about a upcoming NYCT Nostalgia Special to Yankee Stadium on Opening Day... Why they did NOT use the term SUBWAY CARS to describe the vintage equipment is beyond me... I have grown to strongly dislike the awkward term "Train Cars" that is being unfortunately used mor...

JS - The first map that you posted is the first effort 1974 MTA Commuter Rail Map... Remark-- the article says the oldest cars in revenue service date to the 1980s. So (i) NYCTA seems to be working with a 35-40 year expected life span for its cars and (ii) (personal) NO car I rode when I last lived in New York City is still in service: hard to believe! WE - Agree with all your observations about a relocated East Yaphank Station... From referring to my Hagstrom's Suffolk County Atlas I noticed that Mastic-Shirley Station is exactly 3 miles south on William Floyd Parkway (CR 46) from the proposed East Yaphank Station site...
